Cactus Theme, Backyard Baby Shower

A baby shower filled with bbq, mimosas, and succulents! When planning this baby shower we wanted a casual but classy vibe. We wanted the design to be memorable and personalized, without having to break the bank. By carefully choosing where to delegate the budget, we created a super fun and beautiful event, and this baby and mama were showered all day long!

Take a peak inside this desert inspired shower, and see our tips on how to plan your own shower below.

My Lovely Events provided all of the specialty rentals. They are one of the go-to vendors in Ventura County for beautiful modern vintage items, ranging from vintage lounge furniture and larger pieces to decorative accent pieces for styling. My Lovely Events provided the decor to make the cute decorate space above, which doubled as a focal point and Photo backdrop for guests.

For the place settings, we opted for upscale disposable items from Posh Party Supplies  since the shower was going to be outside, and we wanted to plan for an easy clean-up plan for the hosts at the end of the day. We found some super cute plates, cups and napkins that matched the sage and blush color palette we loved.

We selected (and then customized) Bath Bomb favors on Etsy, and labeled each with “Girls are the Bomb” stickers (a nod to the baby girl to be).

Pink Mercury Glass Centerpiece A “momosa” bar was near the entrance to greet guests as they arrived.  Having a little champagne set up was the perfect way to greet everyone.

We also included cupcakes with succulent toppers, and a super cute mini-cake with a combination of live and faux succulents. Desert Baby Shower

Baby Onsie CookiesNo shower is complete without at least a couple games! Guests seem to always have fun with the “guess mommas belly size” game. We also included “Pin the binky on the baby” and finally, we set up a DIY head band making station indoors for the younger guests to have some fun with.

Whether you’re planning a shower for a family member or girlfriend, or planning your own, here are my top tips!

    • If a professional planner isn’t in the budget, ask a few girlfriends to plan!
    • Hire a Caterer!!! This will make it so much easier for whoever is hosting. There are tons of options available ranging in price that can fit any budget!
    • Don’t overdo the games, and burn-out your guests. Pick a few fun ones and call it a day.
    • Make a playlist! Extra points if the list features baby-centric, or Love themed songs. Here are a few of our picks:
      • Lauren Hill, “To Zion”
      • Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa “One Kiss”
      • Sade, “Babyfather”
    • Hit up Etsy! Support small businesses and make your life (or your hosts) easier, by minimizing the DIY elements.
    • Have a designated CUTE spot for photo opps! This is an event that you’ll remember for years to come, and you’ll want to look back and remember how special the day was.
    • Assign 1-2 party planners to take pics OR hire a photographer!
    • Ask a girlfriend to take notes if you open gifts (for thank you cards later)
